Work? In the Summer Holidays?

Summer Work, from Google

Yep, it is summer. There is no school or college, some people have holidays, some  have to go to work, others have got homework to be doing. But we all know that whatever has to be done, is going to be done with reluctance in the last-minute early hours of the morning before.

Its true. During my old summer holidays I couldn’t wait to get out of school. Homework was always put aside until the very last possible opportunity to do it. My priorities changed to sleeping, socialising, more sleeping, and possibly more sleeping.

These days, we realise how important time is. The summer is a great big puddle of time for us to splash in.

Some smart folk may come across a brilliant get-rich-quick scheme to support themselves through the summer, some have important work experience, but most like me, do nothing.

Which can be hell.

So instead I decided to look out for summer work. Please keep reading!!!

Don’t worry I’m not suggesting all the boring stuff, no one wants to stand in a shop for hours of minimum pay. We all dislike being polite for rude customers. And everybody hates the uniforms.

OK boys, so how about working somewhere like Alton Towers? Honestly. Alton Towers take on staff every summer for work in operating rides, restaurant cooks and waiters, or general front of house staff. Seriously- check it out!

Girlies- fancy getting paid for shopping? Register online with Mystery Shopper websites and they will email you updates on shops that need their service testing (this is where you come in ). So you can get paid to go into a shop, ask some questions about their products, talk to the staff, and rate the shop at the finish- easy!

I got these two little ideas from a Summer Work book in my local library. Leicester has billions (almost literally) of libraries which will also have these books. And they have different ideas in – the kind of job they don’t tell you about in school ;)
